SignalRGB Desktop Wallpaper is a Windows desktop customization utility developed by Sebastian Mendyka that projects a live RGB lighting effect through transparent regions of a wallpaper image. The current release is version 2.5.0, one of 13 versions published to date. The software takes whatever effect SignalRGB is currently generating and displays it, in real time at 60 frames per second, through cut-outs in any user-selected picture, with zero noticeable CPU cost. Users pick an image, carve transparent regions into it using the bundled in-browser image editor—no external tools such as Photoshop are required—or start from the included starter wallpaper library, which also supports per-user uploads. The application runs on top of Lively Wallpaper (free) or Wallpaper Engine (paid, available on Steam), and its installer performs all setup automatically, with no Python installation, manual file copying, or terminal use needed. It supports up to four monitors, which can be configured independently or spanned, and is configured through a browser-based Configurator. Additional functionality includes twelve ambient effects—snow, rain, sparks, aurora, constellation, fireflies, plasma, vortex, bubbles, matrix, starfield, and lightning—plus more than eleven desktop widgets covering clock, calendar, weather, sticky notes, countdowns, photo frame, quotes, CPU, RAM and network monitoring, audio spectrum, and now-playing information. Workflow features include preset slots, per-application profiles, hotkeys, and automatic cycling, and the software pauses automatically when a fullscreen application is active to avoid interference. The user interface is available in German and English, with the language auto-detected from the Windows locale. As a product in the desktop personalization and RGB lighting software category, SignalRGB Desktop Wallpaper is suited to users who want their existing SignalRGB setup extended onto the desktop background, combining decorative lighting with practical widgets and ambient animations.
